I see a lot of people - not stating names, faking mental disorders or self-diagnosing themselves.
I'm making this to spread awareness of why you shouldn't fake these sorts of things.
It's probably pretty self-explanatory to some people, but for the others, they might need a bigger explanation

There are plenty of people in this game who actually have a disorder/illness.
When someone pretends to have a disorder similar to someone else's or the same one as their's, how do you think that makes the person feel?
Disorders/illnesses are nothing to pretend you have, it's something very serious that can be a daily occurrence in someone's life.

I've seen people comment on YouTube video's saying how they're psycho and proud of it.
I don't think I even need to explain the things wrong with that.
And it's not just being psychotic, it's other things too.
People with these problems are often self-insecure and aren't proud of what they have.
So when you're making depression, anxiety and etc. seem like a "happy-go-lucky," situation, think about how others feel.

Would it shock you if I told you I once lied about having a disorder?
It was a one-time thing, and I didn't try to push the agenda against people.
Lying about these kinds of things will cause some people to pity you, but eventually, you start feeling bad.
I don't understand why people WANT to have these issues.
It will interfere with your life depending on the severity, and it's not fun.

Thank you for making this thread! I was always bothered with people like that, due to me being one of those with mental disorders. But yeah, a lot of people act as it's something to be proud of which is opposite of how people who have it actually feel.
Depending on the situation, no one has it same. Using it as a purpose for attention is obviously stupid in my opinion.

I've never encountered someone who did this before, neither have I ever done this, but now that you explain it, I see why you have made this thread. I see how it's annoying and hurtful to other people and hurtful too yourself

Hey, heads up, don't use this thread to target people or single people out.
Leaving this here for future reference.

I think it's an excellent topic, I've also pretended to have some mental illness or a transformed one and I regret it. With this topic many people can see the true severity of a mental illness / disorder and that should not be taken as a

As a person who has dealt with depression and suicide, I find this thread very useful, especially toward the people who have been faking illnesses for attention, and not admitting to in fear of losing any of their precious "popularity," and acting as if it were to be a good thing is another red flag, indicating that their so called "disorder" is fake. However if you were a person were to be faking an illness, but now regret it, please, don't feel scared to admit it, because at least you know that what you were doing was wrong, and I respect you for that.

your topics are amazing im so glad there's a new one!
but yes i also see this happen and i hate it really
great thread just like every other one

Helpful thread although I must say I don't mind people self-diagnosing since sometimes there are blatantly obvious things that make someone clinically depressed, bipolar, anorexic, etc. There's a difference between self-diagnosing and lying. Some people self-diagnose because they simply can't go to a therapist whether it be not having enough money, wanting to tell their parents or just not having enough courage. Of course, self-diagnosing isn't always accurate in fact I feel like it's almost never accurate since normally people would have some sort of branch off of [for example] depression rather than straight up depression. Lying about a disorder is completely different. A lot of people lie about having a disorder cause they're seeking attention from peers or want to fit in with the people who actually do have legitimate disorders.

i can understand this fully. coming from someone who has a mental illness, it hurts when others use it as an excuse to seek attention or as a personality trait. mental illness isn't fun or quirky, its something a lot of people struggle with. sob
