MAH CHEESE!

hiya! so i know most of us have started, or are going to, start school within the next (few) week(s)!
as an overly-obsessed panicky person myself, i do panic quite a bit when it comes to starting school.
recently, i found some things to distract myself with when i start thinking about school, and i thought i'd share them!


listen to calming music. usually, that helps. just let yourself get lost in the music; sing along or just lay down and soak in the lyrics. remember that everything will be okay and that there's absolutely nothing to be worried about!
think about your friends. i know this one sounds stupid, but whether you're starting at a new school or not, you're bound to make some amazing friends this year, and hopefully they'll stick around for years to come!
think about goals you want to achieve this school year. whether it be getting good grades or joining some sort of club, think of ways to motivate yourself to do those things! you can do it, we're all rooting for you!
think about clothes shopping. that personally always gets me excited for the school year. i absolutely love finding cute clothes and planning out outfits while i'm shopping!
create a morning/night routine a week or two before school starts! start preparing your body to wake up early and go to bed a bit earlier than usual. eat breakfast every morning, find a bit of free time just to sit back and relax for a few minutes. don't stress, everything will be fine.


now, i know a lot of us have anxiety. that's perfectly okay! i myself struggle with anxiety, but i definitely don't let it get in my way of being excited for the school year to begin.
anxiety does stop a lot of us from doing the things we desire, but i believe that we can all overcome it, despite what we may think about ourselves.
now, i know you're probably thinking "is this girl serious? i'm too much of a mess to overcome my anxiety!", but you can overcome it. all you need to do is stay strong and believe in yourself ♥.
some do's and don't's popped into my mind a few minutes after i thought of this, and i hope these will help someone out there!

do's

take a breather and tell yourself everything is fine

think of all the great times you're going to have this year

vent out your feelings to someone if they become overwhelming

take a walk or blast music to ease your mind, or even shower or watch a video

know that you can do this. you're very strong and you'll be absolutely fine!

also realize that it's perfectly okay to be nervous, we all get nervous sometimes. it's perfectly normal.

be yourself! don't let others impact the way you act. you're beautiful just the way you are! keep your head up high

don't let judgement get to you. if people are judging you, they're jealous of how amazing you are


don't's
tell yourself that you hate school! school is only here to help you achieve those childhood dreams and become successful

let your nerves stop you from doing things you want to do ( i know that's hard, but you CAN do this! everything will be absolutely fine.
)

overthink. that's one of the worst possible things to do. don't let yourself panic
hurt yourself. just relax, don'tr resort to harming methods.
worry about what others are thinking. nobody's watching you, they're all too worried about themselves

so, there you have it! i hope this helps someone!!
remember that there's nothing worth stressing out over when it comes to school! that includes exams, too.
put a smile on your face and fight through the panic, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

I can't control my thoughts anymore.
I've always been an over thinker, every since 3rd grade.
I can't feel my thoughts, they attack me when I'm having my best of times.
It's like anxiety has taken over my body and engulfed it multiple times, it's so upsetting because I can't do anything.

I can never relax.

I sometimes do yoga, but I just can't do it for 25+ minutes due to excessive daydreaming / thoughts.

my mom would always make the outfits i'd wear to school even though i would tell her i could make them myself but
since im going to middle school in a week im already hella nervous because i have to take a plceholder test to see which grade i'll go in

everything will be okay! just relax and focus on the test when you take it.

this is a really sweet thread, thank you!! any advice on how to make new friends? ya since i'm starting college with nobody that I know of so recently i've been really nervous and anxious that i'd end up alone
